Whether you wake up stiff and achy or your joints are rusty and arthritic, you can bet, it’s your lymph fluid. Really? Is there a link between morning stiffness and lymph fluid? Sure! Your lymphatic fluid hardens overnight!
We know the miraculous lymph fluid spreads to nourish, cleanse and defend all other systems of the body. However, because this elixir of life is also rich in protein, when the body is not moving this protein hardens and the body gets stiff.
For instance: if an unfinished yogurt container is left in the sink, the leftover yogurt will quickly harden because yogurt is rich in protein. Try it and see how quickly it happens.
Protein, Morning Stiffness and Lymph Fluid
The same happens in the body. Through the evening, as we sleep, the lymph fluid is gradually hardening. Remember, the heart discriminates against the lymph fluid! The heart only pumps the blood and not the lymph! What a shame!
So the lymph fluid mainly depends on muscle motion and breathing to move through the body. When we’re awaken, body motion and breathing more or less do the job. However, when we sleep this is basically not happening!
Night body immobility and night shallow breathing do not assist lymph flow. So, when we sleep, the lymph gets stagnant and its protein content hardens! Like the leftover yogurt.
Unfortunately, we are programed to think this is a normal situation. Morning stiffness is not normal and it’s not good! There is a problem due to the night immobility. Over the years, this creates fibrosis in the tissues and it impairs circulation and the transport system of the body. This can be prevented and solved with a little knowledge and every day practice of Lymphatic Yoga.
Lymphatic Yoga Simple Tips for Morning Stiffness and Lymph Flow
- Stretch the body in the bed as soon as you wake up. Dogs and cats naturally stretch as they wake up. Children also do the same. Do the same, too.
- Practice at least five minutes of diaphragmatic breathing in the bed before your day starts.
- Practice Lymphatic Yoga neck motions.
- Walk for at least 20 minutes in open air while breathing deeply. Do it daily.
- Drink one or two glasses of warm water with lemon first think in the morning.
If nothing is done to purposefully assist lymph motion, over the years the morning stiffness slowly accumulates. It creates arthritic conditions, stiffness and diseases in the body. Stagnant lymph retains the metabolic waste of the cells and the tissues will surely deteriorate. Simple Lymphatic Yoga motions can help with morning stiffness and lymph stagnation. Keep your practice going! Stay tuned for more!
